Most dental practices still write claim narratives the same way they did twenty years ago: from memory, under pressure, between patients. Meanwhile, the largest dental insurers in the country have quietly rolled out AI that reviews every claim the moment it lands. One side of the table got the upgrade. The other side didn't.
That's the asymmetry we've been working on at Unified Dental.
For the last several months we've been building Dental Claim Narrator (DCN) — an AI that takes your chart notes and produces a payer-ready narrative that documents medical necessity, references the right CDT context, and reads like a senior insurance coordinator wrote it. We've been piloting it inside a real practice and refining it claim by claim.
The full platform is still in the oven. But we just made the early version free and public on the ChatGPT store, and we'd love for you to try it.

👉 Dental Claim Narrator (DCN) in ChatGPT
Paste in a SOAP note, drop in the CDT codes, and ask it for a narrative. It'll walk you through anything missing, then return a single, compliant paragraph in the 500–1500 character range that insurance carriers expect.
It's good for:
- SRP, crown, RCT, extraction, osseous, and bone graft narratives
- Tightening up a draft your team already wrote
- Training new front-office staff on what "good" looks like
- Sanity-checking a claim before you submit it
It's not a replacement for clinical judgment, and it's not the full DCN platform — that one will be payer-aware (Aetna, Cigna, Delta Dental, UHC, BCBS), denial-pattern-learning, and PMS-agnostic by design. Whatever you run — Open Dental, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Curve, Denticon, anything else — DCN works alongside it. We're not asking you to switch software. The version on ChatGPT today is a real, useful tool you can use right now, for free, regardless of what's running in your operatory.
Why we're putting it out free
Two reasons.
First, the practices that need this most are the ones with the least time to evaluate vendors. A free, no-signup link on ChatGPT lowers the bar to try the thing down to about ten seconds. If it helps you, great. If it doesn't, you've lost nothing.
Second, every conversation with a real practice makes the full DCN platform sharper. If you use the GPT and notice a gap, an awkward output, or a missed payer convention — tell us. That's how the v2 we're building gets better.
How you can help
If DCN saves you even one denial appeal this month, would you do us two small favors?
- Leave a short review on the GPT — even one sentence helps it surface for other practices searching for tools like this.
- Share this with one front-office colleague — the people writing narratives every day are the ones this was built for.
We'll keep you posted as the full platform launches. In the meantime, the preview is live, it's free, and it works.
